€7.5m in Grants for Energy Efficiency Projects in Businesses

(23 Mar 2012)

The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland has launched the Better Energy Workplaces Scheme (BEW) to support sustainable energy investments in 2012 in the public, commercial, industrial and community sectors. The fund will make available €7.5 million for projects that support energy performance contracting; a key element of Ireland’s National Energy Efficiency Plan. Public sector projects are particularly encouraged in order to assist in meeting the 33% public sector energy efficiency improvement target in 2020.

The application process is open until April 30th 2012. The BEW scheme is flexible and a case could be made for virtually any energy efficiency measure or initiative involving capital spend. There is a strong emphasis on monitoring and verification of savings and ‘projects employing the International Performance Measurement & Verification Protocol (IPMVP) to monitor and verify energy savings are particularly encouraged’.

Energy Solutions can assist organisations of all scales in identifying projects, applying for funding and specifying and delivering projects.
